Your new MSs must know how important nature is to you.

Imagine a Wales with cleaner rivers and healthier seas, where our most threatened species are recovering, farmers are supported to work hand in hand with nature, and wildlife flourishes in every neighbourhood.

A Wales where more swifts swoop and screech over rooftops, more puffins return to bustling coastal colonies, and redstarts and wood warblers thrive beneath the canopy of our Celtic rainforests.

This future is within reach, but only if we prioritise and invest in nature.

Wildlife is declining, habitats are under pressure and many species face an uncertain future.

Wales has committed to reversing nature’s decline by 2030. This Senedd will be critical in making sure the Welsh Government takes the action needed to deliver on that commitment.

Restoring nature is about more than protecting wildlife. As our life-support system, nature provides clean air and water, healthy soils for food production,  resilience to climate change, and supports our health and wellbeing.

What's needed now is the investment and support to make it happen at the pace and scale nature needs.

Nature can recover - but only if we prioritise and invest in it.

I’m writing to you because I care deeply about wildlife and want to see a future for Wales where nature and people thrive together. As my MS, I’m asking  you to help ensure this Senedd delivers for nature by:

• Prioritising nature in the Budget, with increased long-term investment in nature conservation and sustainable land management to put Wales on a path to recovery by 2030.

• Putting nature recovery at the heart of land use policy, including the review of farming regulations and ensuring the Sustainable Farming Scheme enables farmers to restore nature and tackle climate change.

• Setting ambitious biodiversity targets and ensuring strong environmental governance to prevent damage and drive positive action for species and habitats.

• Ensuring protected areas are properly resourced, managed, monitored and expanded, supporting thriving wildlife throughout our countryside and seas.

Please be a strong voice for nature in the Seventh Senedd and help ensure the Welsh Government prioritises and invests in its recovery. Investing in nature means investing in healthier people, stronger communities, resilient businesses and a better Wales for future generations.
