Community Campaigner

Join a network of campaigners taking action for nature in their communities.

From meeting politicians to organising local events, Community Campaigners help make sure nature is heard loud and clear where decisions are made.

What is a Community Campaigner

Community Campaigners are RSPB supporters who want to be a voice for nature in their community. Our wildlife and wild places can’t speak up for themselves – they need us to be a voice for positive change.

As well as receiving our Action for Nature emails and news about our online campaigns, you’ll also get the chance to speak up for nature in your local area, with your friends, neighbours and elected representatives. We’ll let you know ways you can do that which will have the most impact for nature. You don’t need to be a nature expert to speak up for our natural world – it’s your passion that counts!

You are always in control of which actions you choose to take part in. All our campaign actions will always be legal, safe and non-party political.

As well as supporting the topics RSPB is campaigning on, you can also take action on issues in your area that are affecting nature beyond these too. By being a Community Campaigner, you’ll get access to webinars and resources to support you in doing that effectively.

What resources are available?

You’ll be supported every step of the way, with tools and opportunities to help you grow your impact and confidence.

As a Community Campaigner, you’ll receive:

  • Training 
    Practical support on how to campaign effectively, from speaking to decision‑makers to organising local action.

  • Tools and resources
    Ready‑to‑use materials, campaign briefings, and step‑by‑step guides to help you take action.

  • Opportunities to make a real impact
    Clear ways to get involved in campaigns where local voices can genuinely influence decisions.

  • Support from the RSPB
    A team behind you providing direction, information and encouragement.

  • Campaigning network
    Be part of a growing network of people across the UK working together for nature, sharing ideas, experiences and support.

  • Skills and confidence
    Build experience in communication, organising, and influencing - skills you can use beyond campaigning too.

What will I do?

As a Community Campaigner, you’ll have opportunities to take part in meaningful, real world action, including:

  • Engaging politicians
    Meeting or contacting MPs, councillors, or other local leaders to talk about why nature matters in your area.

  • Bringing campaigns into your community
    Speaking to people locally, friends, neighbours, or at community spaces - and encouraging them to get involved.

  • Organising or supporting events
    Helping run local meetings, talks, or small campaign activities that raise awareness and build momentum.

  • Taking action on key issues
    Supporting priority campaigns, from protecting important habitats to promoting nature‑friendly farming in ways that connect locally.

  • Building  support
    Encouraging others to sign up, take action, and become voices for nature themselves.

But don't worry, you’re always in control of what you take on, you can choose the actions that suit you.
