Meet your MSPs:

Photos of a Puffin, a Swift and a Squirrel with the text: "Be their voice!"

Many of our most loved species such as Puffins, Swifts, Corncrakes and Scottish Wildcats are at risk of extinction.

In fact, despite what you might think, Scotland remains one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world.

With a new Parliament in place and government priorities being set right now, urgent action is needed to restore biodiversity and protect precious species.

That's why we're urging nature lovers in Scotland to meet with your MSPs, as it's one of the most powerful ways to influence the government’s direction.

How would this work?

On the next page you’ll find a template email that you can send to your MSPs to request a meeting. If you can, we recommend that you personalise the details to highlight the key issues you want to raise.

In Scotland, you’re represented by one constituency MSP and seven regional MSPs, so be prepared that more than one MSP might accept your meeting invite. However, we know you may not be able to meet that many MSPs, so you have the option to choose which MSPs you contact in the template.

Are there any resources to help?

Check out our election hub and meet your MSP guide for helpful tips on having productive conversations with your MSPs. Our campaigns team is also on hand to help, so please drop us an email with any questions you have. We can arrange an online meeting to discuss your MSP meeting too.

How do we save Scotland's nature?

There are many things we can do to bring Scotland's wildlife and landscapes bursting back to life. Here are five actions we're calling for:

  1. Launch strong targets to restore nature through the Natural Environment Act now!
  2. More funding for nature-friendly farming to save wildlife like Corncrakes and Curlews, support farmers and crofters, and tackle climate change
  3. Stop seabirds like Fulmars being killed in fishing gear by introducing vital bycatch measures now
  4. Protect the most important places for nature - stop devastating projects like Berwick Bank and support development that leaves nature in a better place
  5. Invest in nature restoration - grow the Nature Restoration Fund, a small but mighty pot which has helped birds, bees and butterflies thrive

You can bring up any of these issues with your MSPs, or something else which is important to you.
