Show your neighbourhood nature some love.
This is all about celebrating the nature that’s nearest to you. It could be your local park, a street tree, ‘your’ garden birds – or anything else. It’s the place nearest to you that brings you that daily joy that puts a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
Show your MP the place that lifts your spirits, and inspire them to help protect it. |

You might reflect on how the seasons change it, how often you pass by or spend time there, or whether you talk about it with friends, neighbours or family. You could consider why it brings you comfort, calm, joy or energy, and even why you’d miss it if it changed or disappeared. All of these small details can help paint a vivid picture of why this spot matters to you. |

The South Downs has become a bit of a refuge for me whenever I need to clear my head. There’s something about the wide, open chalk hills and the constant movement of the sky that makes everything feel calmer and more manageable. I often go for long walks along the ridges, sometimes with friends, sometimes on my own, and it’s one of the few places where I properly switch off — no rush, no noise, just the wind and the view stretching for miles.
The River Wyre is one of those places I keep coming back to without really thinking about it. Whether it’s a short stroll along the banks or a longer wander at the weekend, it’s a steady, familiar presence. There’s something grounding about being near the water — watching it move, noticing how it changes after rain or in different seasons — and it always seems to slow me down in the best possible way.
I remember a quiet morning walk when the mist was still hanging over the river and everything felt hushed and still. It’s moments like that which stay with you — simple, but deeply calming. Places like this aren’t just nice to have; they’re part of what makes an area feel liveable and connected to nature. If it were to deteriorate or disappear, it would leave a real gap, not just environmentally but in people’s everyday lives too. |
