What we're calling for
Stop the threat to wildlife
We’re deeply concerned about Part 2 of the Bill, which puts Scotland's most precious species and habitats at risk.
It would hand Scottish Ministers sweeping powers which could weaken our most vital environmental protections - the Habitats Regulations and Environmental Impact Assessments.
That's not what a nature Bill should do. These laws are the backbone of how Scotland protects nature. Part 2 risks making wildlife more vulnerable than ever.
Strong nature targets
Nature recovery targets could be a game-changer for Scotland's wildlife - turning warm words into real action. Scotland needs legal goals to restore species and habitats, not just slow their loss. These targets must be ambitious, measurable and strong if we are to see our landscapes bursting back to life.
By restoring Scotland's wildlife and wild places, we also create a healthier, happier Scotland. Nature is essential to every aspect of our lives, from the food we eat to the water we drink. Strong nature targets are vital for wildlife and people.
Swift bricks
Small changes can make a huge difference. Requiring Swift bricks in all new buildings would cost developers just around £30 per build - but could help one of Scotland’s most threatened birds find a home for the future.
Swifts spend most of their lives in the air and return to the same nesting sites each summer. But, as buildings are renovated or replaced, they’re losing the nooks and crannies they depend on. Including Swift bricks is an easy, affordable way to bring wildlife back into our cities.
