From iconic Puffins to magnificent Gannets, Scotland hosts more than half of the UK's seabirds.
But they are in crisis. Their numbers have halved since the 1980s, with climate change, food shortages, invasive predators and Avian Flu all taking their toll.
Many much-loved species like the Puffin have been added to the Birds of Conservation Concern red list – meaning they have suffered severe declines or are threatened with extinction.
We don’t want to live in a Scotland where the sound of seabird cries on our coasts and islands falls silent.
That's why we're calling for the Scottish Seabird Conservation Action Plan to include measures to:
- Protect seabird prey fish supplies
- End the ongoing bycatch of seabirds by fisheries
- Clear all Scottish seabird islands of invasive predators - and prevent them from returning
- Protect the most important areas for seabirds on land and at sea
- Ensure marine planning delivers positive funding and outcomes for climate and nature
Add your voice to the consultation today and together we can send a clear message to the Scottish Government to #SaveOurSeabirds before it's too late.
