Take action this General Election
Nature is in crisis, but we still have time to turn things around. The UK has committed to halting wildlife loss and protecting 30% of our land and seas by 2030. This is just six years away, meaning the decisions made by those we elect on 4 July will ultimately determine if we achieve these game-changing targets.
The UK is one of the most nature-depleted places on earth. Much of our wildlife continues to decline with 38 million birds having vanished from our skies in the last 50 years, and a quarter of all our mammals currently at risk of extinction across the UK.
But we know what needs to be done to bring nature back from the brink. What we need now is the political will to drive this change. You can help achieve that by asking your parliamentary candidates to commit to prioritising action to halt and reverse nature's decline if they are elected.
No matter where you are in the UK, its vital that the MPs elected in the next UK Parliament understand the need for action. Whilst devolved governments are in charge of most areas of environmental policies, MPs from all four UK countries will play a vital role in securing a bright future for our wildlife. You can read more about the importance of this election for nature in all four countries in our blog.
